Introduction
The Sajwani Family Tree is a structured documentation initiative dedicated to preserving the heritage, lineage, and collective memory of the Sajwani family, while strengthening connections among its members across the United Arab Emirates, the Sultanate of Oman, and beyond.
This project has been developed through the collaborative efforts of family members, involving the careful collection, verification, and continuous refinement of genealogical and historical information. It reflects a long-term commitment to accuracy, continuity, and responsible documentation.
The origins of the Sajwani family are historically associated with the regions spanning the UAE and Oman, particularly within the Hajar Mountain range, before branches of the family gradually established themselves in coastal urban centers during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, in parallel with the growth of trade and the pearl diving economy.
The family name “Sajwani” is understood to be a nisba (attributive name), likely derived from either an early ancestor known as “Sajwan” or from a geographic location bearing that name—consistent with naming traditions in the Arabian Peninsula.
Given that early genealogical records in the region relied predominantly on oral transmission, this family tree represents an evolving and curated record, open to ongoing contributions, verification, and updates from family members.
There is ample scope for updating each person’s data, such as where he was born, his education level, occupation, where he died, and causes of death One of the conditions for registering children in this tree is to have their nickname Sajwani or Sajwani. Therefore, I wish that everyone cooperate in updating their data by sending me an email, as shown on this page. Father’s name and wife’s full name – or wives – and the names of the children, and the birth dates of the father and the children.
